Melissa Cox

Melissa’s passion for fitness and physical activity began at early age. Growing up in Oklahoma, she played multiple sports throughout her school years, including track, cross-country, volleyball, and anything else that allowed her to be competitive and outdoors. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Recreation Management from UCO, followed by a Master’s in Exercise Science. Melissa has completed coursework towards a PhD in Health and Human Performance from Oklahoma State University.

Her career in fitness began over 20-years ago working and honing her skills and knowledge as a personal trainer. For several years, she owned and operated the largest outdoor Boot Camp in Oklahoma City until selling the business in 2014. She also created Oklahoma’s first stand-up paddleboard boot camp program, which she runs during the summer months.

Melissa has taught at the University of Central Oklahoma in the Kinesiology Department for almost 10 years, as well as Southwestern Christian University as Professor of Sport Studies. She is passionate about preparing the next generation of fitness-minded people to make a difference and change lives. She believes goal-setting and having a growth mindset are cornerstones and vital to any training program.

In accordance with her passion for travelling and exploring new places, Melissa works with resorts around the world in teaching and assisting with their fitness classes, such as Yoga, Boot Camp, Aqua Fitness, and more. She has completed several half-marathons, as well as the full 26.2-miles at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.
